Oral Cancer Screening Dentist | Velscope Oral Cancer Screening
The VELscope Vx Oral Cancer Screening System, available through All Practice Solutions, is a fluorescence-based visualization device that helps dentists identify oral mucosal abnormalities, including premalignant dysplasia and early oral cancer, during a routine exam. It uses a safe blue light (400-460nm) to make oral tissue naturally fluoresce; healthy tissue emits a consistent green glow, while areas with cellular or metabolic changes appear differently, giving clinicians visual information they can act on. The exam is dye-free and takes about two minutes, integrating easily into a routine checkup without adding significant chair time.

Velscope Technology
The VELscope® Vx Enhanced Oral Assessment System centers on a handheld scope that is used by dentists to help visualize oral tissue abnormalities, including cancer and pre-cancer.
The VELscope® Vx system is an adjunctive device which means it must be used together with and as a supplement to the traditional intra and extraoral head and neck exam. Unlike other adjunctive devices used for oral examinations, the VELscope® Vx does not require any dyes or prolonged testing procedures. In fact, a VELscope® Vx exam can be performed in the dentist’s office during a routine hygiene exam in about two minutes.
